Okay, I know I’m pushing the limits of what could credibly be referred to as a “Life Skill” here but, frivolity certainly deserves to have its moment in the limelight from time to time.
There are certain studies out there that suggest better loving is linked to better LIVING: People with “Better Loving Life Skills”, tend to have healthier Healthy Life Skills.
Given that, what finer goal could you pop on your CANDo list of Get-Up and Go-Go Things to Do than bettering your “Better Loving Life Skills”?
Maybe it might be more sensible to concentrate on healthy eating life skills, or healthy exercise life skills and then wait for better loving to come as a result. Personally, I reckon pepping up life skills should be fun, and we should do the bits we really like first so, if starting off with sexercise floats your boat, go for it.
Apart from the obvious, there are mega-amounts of perks to be had from whipping off your socks and getting down to it.
It Tones Muscle
While it’s not quite up there with weight training, it’s impossible to deny that you’d be getting some kind of a workout. Your arm, butt, legs and core muscles all get invited to the party. With all that flexing, contracting and (oh yes I dare say it!) “releasing” going on, you’ll be toning your muscles.
It’s Great for Calorie Burning
Again, while it can’t be likened to a Zumba class or circuit training, provided you put in a little effort – no point laying back and thinking of your country girls! – you’ll be burning those all important calories.
It’s a Happy Pill
While it’s got its physically pleasurable side, don’t underestimate the power sexercise has to elevate your mood. It can provide a natural, chemically induced “happy” state. Some (possibly men with “Sex” high up on their Care Label – but I’m not one to cast aspersions) even suggest that semen contains mood-elevating chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin, ergo, ladies get a “hit” if they’re getting it regularly.
Joking aside, orgasms do release a rush of endorphins and hormones (on both sides) that certainly go towards helping us feel “loved, desired and appreciated”.
It Boosts the Immune System
Scientists measure levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) to evaluate how healthy our immune systems are. The Wilkes University in Pennsylvania found that, out of 111 students, those who had sex once or twice a week had a 30% rise in immuno-whatnots. More sexercise therefore potentially equals fewer colds and flu. Don’t overdo it though, more than twice a week and the benefits disappear.
It Makes your Skin Glow
Now I’m not suggesting you swop your face cream for smearing on semen but… exercise increases your blood circulation and therefore oxygenates the blood which leads to pinker, healthier cheeks et al. All those endorphines and hormones are also purported to help heal damage caused by smoking, the sun, etc.
It’s a Stress-Buster
Sexercise helps distract all your Inner Imps from their worry-woes and negative stressful thoughts and therefore helps “Team You” take the focus off these things.
It Boosts Self-Esteem
Sexercise makes you feel loved, attractive and desirable. All these feelings are magic fairy dust for your Inner Imp Self-Esteem and he’ll carry these feelings with him to make you feel more confident in all other areas of your life.
There are major benefits to be gained from having tip-top better loving life skills. As with all life skills, it’s about sitting up and taking notice of what you’re doing – or not doing.
It’s so easy for life to “get in the way” and put lack of sex in your relationship down to “a phase we’re in”. What’s important is to “consciously” become aware of whether you’re “getting” enough, too little, too much… Get Honesty to open up and stop making “excuses” to yourself.
Getting better loving life skills certainly gets my vote on the fun front (perhaps unsurprising, it also got my Main Man’s when I canvassed his opinion!)
