There are times when we all have doubts. Our Inner Imp Fear has all his light flashing neon in a don’t-even-go-there kinda way, Doubt has a doubtful answer for any positive you can come up with and all your other Inner Imp Hellions are intent on having you stay at home, avoid making waves by changing things or forcing them out of their comfort zone.
When this happens, what can you do. Well, here’s a CANDoable.
Develop the “So What” Mentality
Go ahead and do whatever it is Fear, Doubt, Laziness and Temptation are attempting to stop you doing. Every time they raise an objection, hit them with a “so what”.
- Even if I don’t get the job, so what!
- Even if he/she says no to a coffee/date, so what!
- Even if I fail, so what!
- Even if my attempt/business/venture/idea fails, so what!
Failing is not the end of the world. The majority of the world’s successful people have failed multiple times before they finally found success. The one thing they probably did after each of these failures was to say “So What” and move on to their next objective.
The quicker you can get over your failures, the quicker you’ll be mentally ready and able to move on to something else and start succeeding.
It’s no different from when you learned to ride a bike. You fell off a few times, said “So What” and got back on. You kept trying.
Be bold, be fearless, be “so what” in the face of failures. Successful people see the obstacles Doubt, Fear and failure place in their path as reroute signs, not stop signs. Be one of those successful people and keep trying until you succeed.
With each “So What” you conjure up and then move on from, you’ll become better, more competent, more confident, more knowledgeable and more likely to succeed the next time.
If you’d like to learn more about how to develop a “So What” attitude, I’m writing a book that teaches exactly that, along with many practical ways you can boost the abilities of your Inner Imps. Sign up below to hear more about the book and get a discount when it’s released.
