7 CANDoables to Improve your Life Now!

There’s really is no time like the present when it comes to being a CANDo get-up and go-goer so today, we’re gonna give your CANDo attitude a little kick up the butt.

It’s one of life’s universal truths (yes, I’ve read my Pride and Prejudice copious amounts of times too), that oftentimes a few small changes can impact hugely on how we feel about ourselves and our lives.  This in turn contributes enormously to whether we get-up and go get want we want or sit around moping and blaming everyone else for what we haven’t got/done/experienced, blah, blah.

Let’s take a look at just 7 small CANDoables you CANDo right now to improve the chances of success in  life.

1 – Dare to Choose

I’m a huge advocate of the notion that many of our feelings are feelings of choice:

  • if you choose to give in and feel ill, you’re likely to be ill-er (hmm… think that should be more ill to be grammatically correct but then, I’m feeling a little rebellious today and as I’m the author of this little golden nugget of life skill wisdom, I’m gonna go with ill-er?);
  • if you choose to be angry, then you’ll be angry;
  • if you choose to be happy, then you’re more likely to be happy;
  • and if you choose to think positively about your life, then you are more likely to act positively and attractive positive things into it.

I dare you today, to choose to be happy and positive.  Don’t give in to negative emotions; choose to revel in the good stuff and choose to be a positive CANDo get-up and go-goer.

2 – Surround yourself with Positivity

Our Inner Imps are like sponges and will soak up the emotions, feelings and attitudes around us.  Do them (and yourself a favour) and steer clear of people with can’t-do or can’t-be-assed-to-do attitudes.  Surround yourself with CANDoers who encourage you to follow your dreams, push your limits and be the best you can.  Don’t shut the naysayers out, just limit your exposure to them.

3 – Do unto others

(Yep, did a bit of bible-bashing at school too!)  Treat those around you as you would like them to treat you.  Being helpful, showing encouragement, empathy and consideration will infect them with positivity and this comes back to you by making you feel good about yourself; and that’s essential for filling your CANDo attitude’s tanks up with energy giving go-go juice.

4 – Smile

Yep, you heard right.  Simply smile at absolutely everyone today.  Stranger, friend or foe, flash ‘em your pearlies – you’ll be amazed how much sunshine you can spread and how many smiles you’ll get in return.

5 – Make a Plan

Having goals in life and making plans for how to achieve them gives us a sense of purpose and helps us to feel that we’re in control of our lives – even if it feels like the forces of evil are calling all the shots much of the time.  Take a moment and think about one, achievable goal that you want and can realistically achieve today (or within a very short period of time).  Sometimes, just achieving one small thing (like getting all the ironing done or cleaning out that glory hole cupboard that irritates you every time you open it) can top up your CANDo get-up and go-go juice and inspire you to go make bigger and better improvements to your life.

6 – Have a Laugh

Laughter is a fantastic medicine that realises all sorts of kick-ass natural chemicals in our bodies and can often give our CANDo attitude a much needed boost.  Find as many things to laugh about today as you can and let rip – just, please keep CANDoable 3 in mind to keep it positive for everyone concerned!

7 – Get in Touch with Your Honesty Imp

Take the time to have a heart to heart with your Inner Imp Honesty.  Are you being lazy? (No really, are you?)  Are you really trying your hardest?  Is your Self-Discipline lacking discipline?  Does your Perseverance have you finishing what your start?  We all too often sabotage our own efforts by lying to ourselves.  Get honest with yourself.  Someone once said to me that a reason for not doing something is often nothing more than an excuse that’s not being honest with itself.
